Screen-Free Childhood: A Movement Begins
In today’s digital age, technology has woven itself into every aspect of our lives—at home, in schools, and even during play. Devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops have become a regular part of children's daily routines. As a result, screen time among children is rising at an alarming rate, affecting not just their physical health but also their mental well-being, sleep patterns, focus, and social behavior. For many parents, this has become a daily struggle: how to reduce screen time without constant conflict, and how to guide children back to a more balanced and joyful way of living.
The Initiative
Understanding these growing concerns, Pegasus Society for Parents launched a thoughtful and much-needed initiative: “Screen-Free Childhood.” The goal is not to demonize technology, but to rediscover the magic of childhood beyond screens. It’s about creating a nurturing environment where children can play freely, grow creatively, and build deeper family connections—all without relying on digital devices. This movement is built on a strong belief: community is the answer. Parents were invited not just to listen to advice, but to come together, share their struggles, and explore practical solutions as a collective. The overwhelming response from parents revealed a powerful truth—this is not an isolated issue, and no parent is alone in facing it.
A Safe and Supportive Space
To guide this journey with empathy and expertise, Pegasus Society for Parents organized a special session with a child psychologist. But this was no ordinary session. It wasn’t about quick fixes or simply setting screen limits.Instead, it offered:
- A safe, open space for honest dialogue and shared responsibility
- Understanding the emotional and behavioral effects of screens
- Gentle, consistent strategies led with love and connection
- Real-life insights from a certified child psychologist
